End GateRanch is involved with herding dog development and cattle breeding (artificial insemination and embryo transfer).
The purpose of the herding dog program is to promote, preserve and develop the herding skills inherent in all herding dog breeds, registered or unregistered,
and to demonstrate that they can perform the useful function of livestock management for which they were originally bred.
The facilities are designed for progressive opportunitiesof exposure and training with various livestock.
After the herding dog and handler have demonstrated basic command and control capability, advancement to the next skill level is encouraged.
Recognition of skill achievementis obtained at competitive herding
dog trials.


Experienced rancher and herding enthusiast, Eunice Gerloff, provides instruction classes weekly and occasional clinics with qualified instructors.

Introductory herding dog instinct evaluation and lessons $50 each dog per day

HERDING PROGRAM
Annual access practice fee for PROVEN "herding" dogs $500 Initial fee -- plus daily fees
Daily fees--$30 First qualified dog. $15 Additional qualified dog

 
TENDING PROGRAM
For members of the Lone Star Flock Tending Club
$10 Fun Match every fourth weekend of the month Nov-April
$200 annual access practice fee with occasional weekly fees
Occasional weekly fee--$30 First qualified dog$15 Additional qualified dog
Overnight in bunkhouse @ $10

Participants are expected to maintain golden rule sportsmanship with no alcohol allowed on the premises, and no smoking in the buildings.
Students have priority on class days.
Herding dog handlers are
responsible for their dog's health care, timely vaccinations and breed registry regulations where applicable.
All dogs must be secured or on leash when not working.No guarantees nor liabilities are
implied.Abuse of herding dogs or livestock is not tolerated.
Decisions by the management are final and
without refund.
